A very important consideration when selecting movies is to understand and gauge your audience to ensure appropriate content for EVERYONE. What types of movies can we show?

There two types of movies that can be shown with Sounds PLUS: those available to the home video market and those available in advance (pre-release titles). We proudly use Criterion Pictures to secure movie lionesses because they have THE largest selection of pre-release titles in Canada, and currently offer 99% of films in advance of the home video date.

Criterion Pictures is the copyright holder to more than 18,000 feature films, ranging from 1920 classics to pre-release titles.  A majority of movies are available in both French and English. Please note, any movie rented, borrowed or purchased from a retail outlet is likely for home use only.  These titles cannot be shown in public without first acquiring public performance rights.

What format are the movies?

All movies shown by Sounds PLUS are played in DVD format using a high-definition DVD player or on a laptop.

How much does an outdoor movie package cost?

Cost depends upon many variables, such as: audience size, equipment requirements, movie choice, etc. Prices can ranges from $800 – $4000 depending upon your individual needs. Contact one of our sales reps for more information.

Can we charge admission fees?

Charging viewers to watch your movie is based upon the details of your event. We need to ensure that your movie screening is deemed a non-theatrical venue. Contact us for further clarification.

What is included with a Sounds PLUS movie?

  • Large & Reversible Video Screen – our screens can be front or rear projected. The bonus of rear projection is it allows for viewers to sit up close without “blocking the view” while keeping all wires and equipment safe. Screens can be used indoors or outdoors +
  • High Definition projector for crystal clear display +
  • DVD Player or laptop +
  • Professional audio mixing console/interface +
  • State of the art sound systems for up to 1,000 guests +
  • Microphone to make announcements +
  • 1 or 2 audio/visual technicians +
  • Music before and after the movie while guests arrive and depart +
  • Your company logo, video or message projected onto the screen before and after the movie

How much power is required?

Ideally we request at least three (3) separate 110V 15A receptacles – one for the screen, one for the projector and one for the sound system. Theses should be within 100 feet of the performance area.

For events without electrical outlets we have multiple generators that can power up our entire system. Additional charges apply.

Is a signed contract required?

Yes, we do require that a contract be signed by all parties. This is to ensure that all parties are protected and everyone has a clear understanding of the expectations. Our contracts are custom designed to meet the needs of the individual client.

What happens in the event of inclement weather?

Together we will plan for a perfect movie night BUT sometimes Mother Nature has other plans. For safety purpose and protection of our equipment, we cannot operate in poor weather conditions. As an alternative, if the forecast looks daunting, you are welcome to choose either an indoor venue (if available) or an alternative date. Every Sounds PLUS movie comes with a guaranteed rain date option with no additional charges.

How powerful is your sound system?

Our sound systems vary depending upon the number of viewers you expect to attend your movie event. The larger the audience the more powerful the system required. We always ensure that sound is excellent!

Do we require any insurance? Or security?

It is important that you contact the owner of the land in which you intend to show the film prior to booking Sounds PLUS and advertising your movie. Security is NOT required by us, however, you may wish to consider hiring a professional firm to protect your guests and/or event space.

How much work is involved in planning an outdoor movie event?

Believe it or not….not much at all! Sound PLUS can help you every step of the way. We supply everything (movie, public performance rights, projector, sound system, audio/video technician, set up and removal of all equipment, etc).

Can we advertise our movie event?

This is a little tricky because it depends upon your particular movie event. In general, we do not allow advertising as our events are non-theatrical, however special permission can be granted if the right criteria are met. It is best to speak directly with us in regards to this subject.

We are located in a remote location, can we still do an outdoor show?

Absolutely! Our systems are compact and portable for ease of transportation; flexible to fit ANY space; and can run off of generated power. Please note your costs will likely be higher.
